About Interjet

Interjet is a Mexican budget carrier based in the country's capital of Mexico City at the Benito Juarez International Airport. It currently offers an extensive domestic network as well as international flights. It was founded in 2005 and in 2008, took over the operations of the now defunct Aero California. General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in Monterrey and Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport in Guadalajara are also home to some of the airline's operations. The airlines fleet consists of over 60 Airbus and Sukhoi aircraft.

Most of its routes are domestic flights within Mexico, however it has also been serving international destinations in North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean since 2011. Some of its most popular destinations include Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta domestically and Bogota in Colombia, plus Los Angeles in the United States and Lima in Peru. American Airlines, LATAM Brazil, LATAM Chile, Iberia and British Airways all have codeshare agreements in place with the airline.

Online check-in

Passengers can print a boarding card or download a mobile boarding pass for their Interjet flights by checking in online. To do this, they will need their reservation code or ticket number. This service opens 48 hours prior to a flight's scheduled time of departure and also allows passengers to choose seats for the flight.

It is also available only to passengers in possession of an e-ticket. The airline also allows passengers to check in at the airport using its check-in counters between 4 hours and 60 minutes before a flight. At Benito Juarez International Airport, self-service kiosks offer a third option for those checking in.

Hand luggage allowance

1 bag and 1 personal item, such as a laptop bag or handbag, per person are permitted as hand luggage on an Interjet flight. The maximum weight for these 2 items combined should be no more than 10 kg. The maximum size for hand luggage is 56 x 36 x 23 cm for the main bag and 43 x 25 x 22 cm for the personal item. All items of hand luggage must be able to fit in the overhead lockers or under the plane's seats. Certain items including coats, diaper bags, wheelchairs, strollers and duty-free purchases, will be carried for free on top of a passenger's hand luggage allowance.

Checked baggage allowance

On an Interjet flight, passengers are allowed to check in 2 items of luggage each. The maximum size for each of these items is 157 cm when the length, height and width are added together. Each item can weigh up to a maximum of 25 kg. Passengers will be charged per kilo if they exceed this weight limit. There will also be charges incurred if their luggage is larger than the specified size limit. Sports equipment will be carried for free if it falls within a passenger's checked luggage allowance. If not, extra fees will apply for the carriage of these items.
