About IndiGo
The budget airline IndiGo was founded in 2006 and has its headquarters situated in Gurgaon in India. Its parent company InterGlobe Enterprises runs IndiGo and has set up operating bases located at Indira Gandhi International Airport and Chennai International Airport for the airline. In terms of amount of passengers carried, the airline is the largest in India. It has a fleet size of over 100 aircraft that travel to approximately 40 destinations, the majority of which are located within India.
The airline mainly flies to domestic locations in India such as to the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore Goa and Delhi, however, it is also possible to book an IndiGo flight to locations further afield outside of India such as to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal as well as Muscat International Airport in Oman and Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand. The airline also makes regular flights to Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates as well as to Singapore Changi Airport.
Online check-in
Online check-in is possible for all IndiGo flights from 48 hours up until 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. During the check-in process, passengers can select the seat they would like to sit in and either print off their boarding pass right away or have it sent to their email address to be used at a later date. It is also possible to check in on a mobile device. This can be easily done by downloading the airline's app onto a smart phone. Checking in online allows passengers to save time by not having to wait in long queues at the airport on the day of departure.
Hand luggage allowance
All passengers travelling on an IndiGo flight are allowed to take 1 piece of hand baggage as long as it is no larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm and does not weigh more than 7 kg. The baggage dimensions should not exceed 158 cm when all sides have been added together. Infants are also allowed 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 7 kg. Any passengers with luggage that exceeds the permitted size and weight limitations will be charged a flat fee that depends on whether it is a domestic or international flight. Liquids can be taken on board as long as none of the containers can hold more than 100 ml.
Checked baggage allowance
The amount of checked baggage a passenger can take with them depends on whether they are flying on a domestic flight within India or to an international destination. For domestic travellers, up to 15 kg is allowed, whereas international travellers are permitted to take up to 20 kg. Passengers flying to Muscat or Dubai can take up to 30 kg of hold luggage with them. A flat rate charge will be incurred for those passengers taking more than is specified by the size or weight limitations.
