About airBaltic

Founded in 1995, airBaltic is the flag carrier of Latvia and has its headquarters and main hub in Riga International Airport. Its secondary hubs are located at Vilnius Airport and Tallinn Airport. It has a fleet of 24 aircraft that fly to 60 destinations, the majority of which are located in Europe. Some of the airlines that airBaltic has codeshare agreements with are Etihad Airways, Aegean Airlines, Iberia, Alitalia, and British Airways. Its codeshare agreement with Uzbekistan Airways allows for nonstop flights to New York.

Although most of the airBaltic cheap flights travel to European destinations, the airline also serves the Middle East cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to this, the airline flies to Swedish destinations including Stockholm and Gothenburg as well as the Italian destinations of Venice, Milan, Rome and Verona. Online check-in

Online check-in is possible on all airBaltic flights from 5 days before the flight departure. Once the check-in process has been completed, passengers can print off their boarding pass or have it emailed to them to print off at a later date. Check-in is also possible via a mobile phone where the boarding pass can be conveniently saved to avoid having to print off a paper ticket. Using this method allows passengers to easily open their boarding pass on their mobile phone at the airport on the date of departure. Checking in online helps passengers avoid waiting in long queues at the airport.

Hand luggage allowance

All passengers travelling on an airBaltic flight can take 1 piece of hand baggage as long as it does not exceed 8 kg and is no bigger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Passengers with a VIP card or Business ticket can take an additional piece of hand baggage. Every passenger can also take 1 personal item with them on board such as a camera, laptop or handbag. These items should not be larger and 40 x 30 x 10 cm. Hand baggage should be stored in the overhead locker or under the seat in front of the passenger. Liquids in containers 100 ml or less are allowed on board.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of checked baggage a passenger can take with them on an airBaltic flight is dependent on the ticket they have purchased. Basic ticket holders are not allowed any free checked baggage whilst Premium ticket holders can take 1 piece of checked luggage as long as it does not weigh more than 20 kg. Passengers flying with a Business ticket on airBaltic flights can take 2 pieces of checked luggage with them as long as the combined weight of the 2 pieces is not more than 40 kg. The maximum size for all pieces of luggage is 100 x 80 x 50 cm. Passengers with luggage exceeding the weight restrictions will be charged a fee.

Wasn’t left enough to time disembark my first flight get to the terminal get through security and then get to the correct terminal to catch my connecting flight. Ended up stuck in Paris having just had surgery two days prior due to a nasty fall. Cost me £900 for another flight home. Ridiculous will never ever use again!
