About Tame Linea Aerea Del Ecuador

TAME is based in Quito, Ecuador and is the national flag carrier airline for the country. Its main hub of operations is located at Mariscal Sucre International Airport and the airline's full name is TAME EP Linea Aerea del Ecuador. When the airline was founded in 1962, it was run by the Ecuadorian Air Force, however this changed in 2011 and it is now owned by the government of Ecuador. The airline's 20 strong fleet is composed of a mixture of Airbus, Embraer, Quest and ATR planes that fly to 25 different destinations across North, Central and South America.

Some of its top destinations are Havana in Cuba, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Bogota in Colombia, as well TAME's Ecuador destinations, such as Manta, Esmeraldas, Guayaquil and Cuenca. In order to increase its flight offering between Panama and Ecuador, it has a codeshare agreement with Copa Airlines, Panama's national flag carrier airline. It has not joined Star Alliance, SkyTeam or any other airline alliance.

Online check-in

Online check-in is available for passengers on TAME Airlines flights. Using this service means travellers can select a seat and print a boarding card for the flight. The earliest that passengers are able to check in online is 24 hours prior to their flight's departure and 3 hours before at the very latest. Passengers need to use their e-ticket number to complete checking in online. Any passengers who have asked for special assistance or who are travelling with infants cannot check in online and instead need to do so at one the airport check-in counters. Online check-in is also unavailable on certain routes, including TAME Airlines flights to the U.S. and to the Galapagos Islands. The airline suggests that airport check-in is performed at least 1 hour before take-off.

Hand luggage allowance

TAME Airlines baggage allowance for hand luggage dictates that each passenger may bring 1 item of hand luggage. This item is limited to a maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25 cm and a maximum weight of 8 kg. As well as this item, passengers may also bring 1 personal item. A personal might include a camera bag, a duty-free shopping bag, a baby bag or a pair of binoculars. The airline further specifies that passengers must be able to lift their hand luggage into overhead storage without assistance. Passengers will have to pay additional fees to have overweight or oversized hand luggage checked in.

Checked baggage allowance

On most routes passengers are allowed to bring 2 items of checked baggage on their flight. Each item must not weigh more than 23 kg. On domestic flight or flights to the Galapagos Islands, TAME Airlines baggage allowance permits 1 piece of checked luggage that can weigh up to 23 kg. For all destinations, the maximum size for checked baggage is a combined length, width and height of up to 158 cm, while infants up to 2 years old are allowed 1 item weighing up to 15 kg. On flights to and from the U.S., they're allowed 1 item up to 23 kg in weight. Any children older than 2 have a standard adult allowance. Any luggage that is too heavy or too big in comparison to these allowances will incur an excess baggage fee.
