Gulf Air was founded in 1950 and was originally called Gulf Aviation. It is Bahrain's flag carrier airline and has its headquarters located in Muharraq, Bahrain, with a main operating hub situated nearby at Bahrain International Airport. The airline is currently wholly owned by the Bahraini Government. There are nearly 30 planes in its fleet, all of which are Airbus A320s, A321s and A330s.
Gulf Airlines flies to more than 40 different destinations all over the world covering more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa and the Americas. Out of its many destinations, its most popular routes include its flights to Paris, Austin, Bangkok, London, Chicago, Paris, Atlanta, and Cairo. It also has codeshare agreements with EgyptAir, KLM, Saudia, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, Philippine Airways, American Airlines and Royal Jordanian, although it is not an airline alliance member. Its Falcon Gold lounges can be found at Bahrain International Airport, London Heathrow Airport and Dubai International Airport.
