About Chair Airlines (Germania Flug)

Germania Flug AG was founded with help from Berlin-based airline Germania in 2014 and began flying the following year in 2015. It is based in Glattbrugg in Switzerland, but operates its flights from Zurich Airport. It has a small fleet of just 3 aircraft located at this main centre for operations that includes 2 Airbus A319s and 1 Airbus A321. The airline operates flights across Europe and the Middle East.

The airline flies to 16 destinations from its base in Zurich on its own behalf, and a further 2 on Air Prishtina's behalf, namely Pristina International Airport and Skopje Airport. For its own carrying service, the airline flies to Bern in Switzerland, Varna and Burgas in Bulgaria, Split in Croatia, Larnaca in Cyprus, Kittila in Finland, Calvi in France, Kos, Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece, Beirut in Lebanon, Vilnius in Lithuania, Madeira in Portugal, Palma de Mallorca and Gran Canaria in Spain, and Antalya in Turkey.

Online check-in

The airline does not offer an online check-in service and all passengers on Germania Flug AG flights will need to check in at the airport instead. By visiting the company's airport check-in counters, passengers can check-in any luggage that they may have and receive a boarding card for their flight.

Check-in counters are opened 2 hours before a flight and close 45 minutes before it is due to leave. Exceptions to this are flights departing from either Tehran or Tel Aviv, where check-in counters are open 3 hours before a flight is scheduled to take-off. In addition to these locations, check-in at Tehran closes a full hour before take-off.

Hand luggage allowance

All passengers on Germania Flug AG flights can bring up to 6 kg of hand luggage carried as a single item. This item cannot be bigger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm and must be able to fit in the plane's overhead storage lockers or under the seats. Passengers may also bring a laptop bag, handbag, baby food to be eaten during the flight or a set of crutches. This is in addition to their standard carry-on luggage. Passengers will not be charged for this, however it is important to note that each passenger may only bring 1 of the listed items.

Checked baggage allowance

All passengers on a Germania Flug AG flight are entitled to checked in up to 20 kg of luggage, except for children younger than 2 who may only check in up to 10 kg of luggage. These allowances differ in flights to and from Beirut. On those flights passengers can check in up to 25 kg of luggage while infants can check in up to 5 kg. Infants on all flights are also entitled to bring a stroller or car seat at no extra cost. Passengers will be charged extra for overweight bags, up to a maximum of 32 kg in one bag. Over 32 kg their bag will not be carried.
