The amount of checked baggage a passenger can take with them on Sky Airline flights is not affected by whether they are travelling on a domestic or international flight. Passengers are allowed to take 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 23 kg.
Musical instruments as well as sports equipment can also be transported on the aircraft as long as no piece exceeds the weight limitations. Luggage that exceeds the allowed weight will incur a charge, which will depend on whether the passenger is flying on a domestic or international route. Sky Airline passengers should ensure they label all pieces of luggage with their name and address.
Founded in 2001, Sky Airline is the second largest airline in Chile after LAN Airlines. Its main hub is at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport and its headquarters are located in the country's capital city, Santiago. It has a number of agreements with other airlines including Aerolineas Argentinas and codeshare agreements with TACA Airlines as well as with its parent company, Avianca. The airline currently has a fleet of 16 aircraft that fly to 20 destinations, all of which are located in South America.
The majority of the Sky Airline flights serve routes to other domestic Chilean destinations such as the cities of El Salvador, Valdivia, Punta Arenas and Puerto Montt. It also operates flights to the Argentinian destinations of Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Cordoba and Lima in Peru. The airline offers a number of seasonal flights such as to the cities Puerto Natales and Pucon in Chile as well as to Florianopolis in Brazil.
Sky Airline passengers are able to check in online to their flight from 48 hours up until 3 hours before the scheduled departure. By checking in online, passengers are able to select their seat and print out their boarding pass or have it sent to their email address to print out at a later date.
For those travelling with infants or who have a Sky Airline flight booked on a codeshare agreement airline, online check-in is not possible. In order to check in online, passengers must first enter their surname and reservation number. Checking in online allows passengers to save time from waiting in long queues at the airport on the date of departure.
Passengers travelling on a Sky Airline flight are allowed to take 1 piece of hand luggage with them on board free of charge. The baggage should not exceed 10 kg in weight and should not be larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm, including the wheels, handles and pockets.
Hand baggage should either be stored in the overhead locker above the passenger's head or under the seat in front of them. Liquids can be taken on board as long as no container can hold more than 100 ml and the total volume of liquid taken is not greater than 1 litre.
