About LATAM Airlines

Latam Airlines, formerly known as LAN Airlines SA, was Chile’s flagship airline until it was privatised in the early 90s. As a member of the Oneworld Airline Alliance, it focuses on providing service excellence throughout the world through seamless, non-competing routes. Latam Airlines flights reach 31 global and 17 domestic destinations, in addition to seasonal offerings. It has codeshare agreements with Japan Airlines and Air China. This allows it to cover Asia and Europe more seamlessly. It offers frequent travellers an AAdvantage programme that rewards travel between South America and five other continents. LATAM Airlines Group is in the process of being rebranded as a single entity; a process scheduled to be completed by 2019. The group has more network connections than almost any other, operating from several primary hubs, including El Dorado International Airport. Its fleet includes several wide-bodied Boeings and Airbuses, selected for their comfort and security. It has streamlined its planes significantly in recent years, retiring its Douglas, Ford and Convair aircraft. Its largest cargo division is based at Miami International Airport.

How do I check in online with Latam Airlines?

The Latam Airlines check-in process can be completed via the primary website, with your reservation code and name. Passengers are able to use this service from two to 48 hours before scheduled departure. The system allows you to select a seat and print a boarding pass. If you’re travelling without checked-in baggage, you can simply proceed to your gate. The browser-based tool allows passengers to arrange extra baggage on their return flights. If you don’t have a reservation code, you can sign in to your registered account to access all the details you require. You can also find out if you can adjust your trip, and check your flight status online.

What is my checked baggage allowance on Latam Airlines?

The Latam Airlines baggage allowance allows passengers to travel with a generous amount of free luggage. Economy travellers can travel with 23 kg of hold luggage at 158 linear centimetres. Promo and Light passengers are charged for hold luggage, and top-tier travellers are allowed two 23 kg bags. This allowance varies according to the size of your plane’s hold and your special needs. Valuable items and electronics are allowed, but passengers are advised to take them into the cabin. Black Signature and Platinum fliers are allowed to carry an extra item of luggage on some flights. As with most airlines, smart luggage can only be carried if the battery is removed. Dangerous items such as acids and flammable liquids are not allowed. Hoverboards and other lithium-ion battery sports items are prohibited. Firearms and replicas, gels, handheld tools and sharp objects may only be kept in checked-in luggage. Other weapons must be declared and properly unloaded. If you need to travel with over 100ml of medications, they will be permitted as long as they’re declared and accompanied by prescriptions. Ammunition and battery-operated wheelchairs may be carried in the hold, but mercury thermometers are only allowed in your carry-on luggage.

What hand luggage can I take on Latam Airlines?

The Latam Airlines hand luggage size is 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm and shouldn’t exceed 8 kg if you’re an economy traveller. Premium passengers may carry 10 kg and two items of luggage up to a maximum of 16 kg. Bulkhead passengers won't be able to carry anything intended for storage under the seats in front of them, such as laptop bags and musical instruments. Carry-on bags are not allowed to contain firearms, toy guns, dangerous fluids or sharp objects, including shavers and nail clippers. Blunt sports equipment must be carried in the hold.

Where does Latam Airlines fly from?

The Latam Airlines destinations list includes 137 regions in 24 countries, including cargo flights to 29 nations. It flies from its hubs in Jorge Chavez International and El Dorado International airports, among others. It continuously expands its hubs and is expecting to add one in Brazil to improve its routes between Europe and South America. Its partnership with American Airlines and Cathay Pacific allow it to offer a wide range of routes in North America. Its subsidiaries across the continent cover enough foreign ground to service most passengers. Latam regularly attends route development forums to reassess its strategy and add new services, ensuring a constantly evolving understanding of its passengers’ needs. Its use of seasonal routes further adapts to the continuous needs of travellers. Foreign passengers are offered an airfare it calls The South America AirPass — a one-way coupon with a price determined by distance and alliance usage alone. It also provides VIP passengers with lounges both in and outside Chile. Its routes include:

I was unhappy with the additional price charge for my hold luggage. Others on the same fligh purchased through a different agent did not have to pay for up to 20 k of hold baggage.

Our experience was good and the flights were on time. However, food provided on the flight is a shame. There are no sides, no bread, and a very limited and small portion for an adult. It's better to say that the company will not provide food, so we will be prepared.

Absolutely rubbish! Rather than send stuff trying to upsell how about some useful information about what I might need for the flight like a yellow fever certificate. If you’ve got programmes clever enough to tell me I might want a car or hotel or something surely they can say I WILL need this document Thanks for the opportunity to visit Chile and spend an extra $1000 to get to where needed to be And don’t bother pointing to your disclaimer... it’s generic

Very poor. My suitcase was 'lost' en route. Six days after my arrival in Balmaceda, it arrived.
