El Al Israel Airlines was founded in 1948 and operates from its main headquarters, situated at Ben Gurion Airport in the Central District of Israel. The airline has a fleet of 46 aircraft that fly to over 50 destinations all around the world and is the only airline where a missile defense system is fitted on all planes. El Al Israel Airlines flies to a wide range of locations around the world including the American destinations of Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. Online check-in is possible on El Al flights from 24 hours up until 3 hours prior to the departure of the flight. All passengers are allowed to take 1 piece of hand baggage with them as long as it does not weigh more than 8 kg. Business Class passengers are allowed to take luggage weighing up to 20 kg whist First Class passengers can take up to 24 kg. No single piece can be heavier than 16 kg or be larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including handles, wheels or other protrusions. Liquids are allowed as long as the individual containers are no larger than 100 ml.
The amount of checked baggage passengers are allowed to take with them on El Al flights is dependent on the type of ticket they have purchased. Economy Class and Economy Plus ticket holders can take 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 23 kg whilst Business Class ticket holders are allowed 2 pieces weighing up to 32 kg each. First Class passengers can take 3 pieces of luggage each weighing up to 32 kg while Infants can take 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 10 kg. The sum of the checked baggage dimensions may not exceed 158 cm. Luggage that is deemed larger than the stipulated size and weight limitations will incur a fee.
