INFORMATION UPDATE: On 23 September 2019, Thomas Cook Airlines shut down their operations, and are no longer offering Thomas Cook Airlines flights. The information below refers to the period Thomas Cook Airlines was still operating.
Thomas Cook Airlines have been in business since 2003 and the company is run by CEO Jean Christoph Debus. Their main hubs are in Manchester and Gatwick Airport, but they also run out of Cardiff, Glasgow, Belfast and Stansted as well as other airports around the UK. In 2013 they merged with Condor, Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia to become one under the Thomas Cook Group umbrella. This, along with partnerships with airlines such as Air Seychelles and Bangkok Airways mean that it is a simple matter to book flights with both this airline and its partners for a seamless trip to almost any destination.
When travelling with Thomas Cook Airlines flights, it is possible to accrue frequent flyer points in the form of ePoints which can be exchanged for many products from their online shop. These points can be accumulated through any holiday or flight booked with Thomas Cook.
Thomas Cook Airlines online check-in is open from 24 hours to two hours before your flight is due to depart. The check-in process allows you to either download or print off your boarding pass which can be shown when you arrive at the gate. Please go to your departure gate at least 45 minutes before your flight is scheduled to leave, after dropping off any hold luggage in the dedicated drop-off kiosks situated in the airport.
If you are travelling with animals, are an unaccompanied minor or have fees to pay on any of your baggage you will have to go to one of the check-in desks at the airport instead of using the online check-in system. These are open three hours before your flight leaves, or four hours in the case of long-haul flights, but they do close promptly an hour before departure so please make sure you leave enough time.
The Thomas Cook Airlines baggage policy allows each person to take checked baggage of up to 15 kg, although you can purchase up to 10 kg more if required. This free allowance increases to 20 kg if you are travelling on a long-haul flight and 23 kg to the USA. If you have purchased a Premium Class ticket you may take 25 kg, but for the safety of the airline baggage personnel no single bag should be heavier than 30 kg.
The baggage allowance for FlexibleTrips packages varies up to a maximum of 25 kg, but your specific allocation will be clearly marked on your ticket. Each item of baggage cannot exceed 158 cm when adding together the height, width and length, and any bags that exceed your limits in either size or weight will have to be charged for as excess baggage.
When travelling with a child under two or an infant that will be seated on your lap, you will be allowed three of the following four items at no extra cost: a bag of up to 10 kg, a collapsible stroller or pushchair, a car safety seat or a travel cot. If the child has a seat of their own, a stroller or pushchair and a car seat will still be carried in the hold for you without charge.
A suitcase or bag with a maximum size of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm can be taken on board as part of the Thomas Cook Airlines hand luggage allowance. This cannot be heavier than 6 kg if you have an Economy ticket, but the limit rises to 10 kg for Premium Class customers. This case must be able to be fitted into the overhead compartments, but passengers are also allowed another smaller item in addition to this. The smaller item could be something like a ladies handbag, a laptop bag, reading material, a coat, blanket or duty-free.
When travelling with infants, food or milk that will be needed for the period of the flight can be taken as well, but it must be carried within the adult’s 6 kg allowance. Because of the restrictions on liquids, the bottles containing the milk or water will need to be clear for security purposes and may also need to be tasted.
The regulations surrounding liquids also include items that are creams, gels or those in pressurised containers, and don’t forget that this will include such items as toothpaste, shaving gel, mascara and lipstick. Try to put as much in your hold baggage as possible, because any that you will be carrying into the cabin with you must be in containers no larger than 100ml. These containers should all be placed in a 20 cm x 20 cm plastic bag for examination at security.
As Thomas Cook Airlines flight destinations originate from ten different UK airports there are many alternatives, but these are currently the more popular routes:
