About Binter Canarias

Binter Canarias is a Spanish regional airline serving popular holiday destinations in the Canary Islands. It began operations in 1989 as a subsidiary of Spain's national air carrier, Iberia. It is headquartered in Telde on the island of Gran Canaria and has operations hubs at Gran Canaria Airport, Tenerife North Airport and La Palma Airport. There are 20 aircraft in the airline's fleet that a mixture of both ATR and Bombardier aircraft.

Binter Canarias operates services to more than 20 destinations in the Canary Islands as well as elsewhere in Europe and North Africa. Aside from its three hubs, it also serves Lanzarote Airport, Tenerife South Airport, Fuerteventura Airport, La Gomera Airport and El Hierro Airport in the Canary Islands. Also popular are its flights to Lisbon in Portugal, Dakar in Senegal and Casablanca in Morocco. Many of its routes are operated through franchises held by Naysa, Canarias Airlines and Air Nostrum.

Online check-in

Passengers can check in online for Binter Canarias flights, a service which is open from 7 days before a flight is scheduled to depart. It then closes half an hour prior to departure. Passengers can access this service using either their ID number or their booking reference code. Afterwards, they can either print a physical copy of their boarding card or download a mobile version. Luggage can be dropped off at the airport counters. If they would rather check in at the airport, this service is also available up until half an hour before flights within the Canary Islands or 1 hour before international flights.

Hand luggage allowance

Hand luggage on a Binter Canarias flight is the same for all passengers on all routes. All hand luggage is limited to a maximum of 6 kg per passenger and must not be any larger than 25 x 35 x 45 cm. All hand luggage must fit either under the aircraft's seats or in the overhead storage lockers provided. If a passenger's hand luggage is larger or heavier than either the maximum size or weight, it will need to be checked in and carried in the aircraft's hold. This will be done at an additional cost to the passenger.

Checked baggage allowance

The route on which they are flying determines a passenger's checked baggage allowance on a Binter Canarias flight. On those travelling within the Canary Islands, passengers can check in luggage that weighs up to a maximum of 20 kg. On the airline's international flights, passengers can check in 1 item of luggage weighing up to 23 kg. Passengers will have to pay excess baggage charges if they go over the maximum limit of 32 kg. Luggage heavier than 32 kg will not be carried by the airline due to safety concerns. Passengers can also check in up to 5 kg of sporting equipment on top of their ticketed allowance.
