Checked baggage allowance

Checked baggage allowance depends on both the type of ticket a passenger has and also the destination they are flying to. Passengers on domestic flights such as Pegasus flights to Dalaman or Ankara, have allowances which dictate that Essentials ticket holders are permitted 15 kg of luggage while Advantage passengers are entitled to up to 20 kg of luggage. Extras tickets on the other hand specify that passengers can check up to 25 kg of luggage. Checked luggage weight regulations on international flights stipulate that passengers with Basic tickets have no luggage allowance except for their 8 kg of hand luggage, and that those with Essentials or Advantage tickets have an allowance of up to 20 kg, however, those with Extras tickets are granted up to 25 kg. Infants younger than 2 have a baggage allowance of up to 10 kg. If passengers wish to take any sports equipment, they can pay on a per item basis.

About Pegasus Airlines

Based in the Turkish capital of Istanbul, Pegasus Airlines is a low-cost carrier that flies to more than 100 different destinations around Europe and the Middle East. The airline was founded in 1990 as a partnership between Net, Silkar and Aer Lingus. Today, it operates out of hubs at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and Ataturk International Airport, as well as Ercan Airport, Antalya Airport, Esenboga International Airport and Adana Airport. The airline's fleet is made up of nearly 80 aircraft, mostly Boeing 737s along with some Airbus A320s.

Travellers are able to find Pegasus flights to Dalaman, Ankara and other domestic cities within Turkey. They also fly to various other European destinations, such as Geneva, Frankfurt and London, plus Middle East locations that include Kuwait and Tel Aviv. 5 other airlines have codeshare agreements with the airline such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Flynas, Azerbaijan Airlines and Izair. It has not joined an airline alliance.

Online check-in

Passengers on Pegasus flights can check in online starting from 72 hours before takeoff. Online check-in requires a passenger's reservation number plus first and last names. Once they've checked in and printed their boarding cards, passengers with only hand luggage can go directly to security and the departure lounge. Passengers can also download a mobile boarding card if they'd prefer. If passengers have any baggage to check in, the drop-off counters are open until 1 hour before takeoff for domestic flights and 2 hours prior for international flights. Online check-in is also open right up until 45 minutes before takeoff. As well as online check-in, passengers can check in at the airport using either the counter or the self-service kiosks.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers may take 1 piece of hand luggage onto their Pegasus flights. Hand baggage items can weigh up to a maximum of 8 kg and measure a total of 20 x 40 x 55 cm in size. In addition to an 8 kg bag, passengers can also bring on board crutches, collapsible wheelchairs, handbags, duty-free shopping, coats, umbrellas, strollers, cameras, reading material, laptops and baby food. These items are not considered part of the usual hand luggage allowance. Pegasus Airlines review hand luggage at the gate and if passengers are found to be in excess of their allowance, they will have to pay for it to be checked into the aircraft's hold.
