About Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines was founded in 1935 under the name Philippine Aerial Taxi, and took on its current name in 1941. It is the Philippine's national flag carrier and is headquartered in Pasay City in the Philippines. Its primary hub is at Ninoy Aquino International Airport with a secondary hub located at Mactan Cebu International Airport. It also has a focus city at Kaino International Airport. It has a convoy of nearly 70 airplanes, with the majority of the fleet made up of Airbus A321s.
It currently serves more than 40 destinations spread across Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, Europe and North America. Some popular routes include Philippine Airlines flights to Brisbane, Toronto, Shanghai and Paris. It has not yet joined any of the three main airline alliances, however in response to this, it has negotiated codeshare arrangements with several other carriers, such as Air Macau, Turkish Airlines, China Airlines and Malaysia Airlines to help it expand its areas of service.
Online check-in
Online check-in for Philippine Airlines flights allows people to print their boarding cards and choose their seat on the airplane. Passengers who need special assistance at the airport, children travelling without an adult or groups of more than 10 people cannot check in online, and instead should check in at the airport. Online check-in is not available on certain routes including those to Xiamen plus flights from Manila to Cebu. Online check-in is also not available on flights to Kalibo, General Santo or Davao. Online check-in opens 24 hours before a flight and closes again 1 hour prior to take-off. Once they've checked in online, passengers should drop off any checked baggage at least 45 minutes before their flight.
Hand luggage allowance
Passengers are entitled to 1 item of hand luggage per person on a Philippine Airlines flight. This is subject to a maximum weight of 7 kg and a maximum size combined width, length and height of 115 cm. In addition to this, passengers can bring 2 small personal items such as handbags, purses, coats, laptops or reading material. Passengers with disabilities can also bring their wheelchair, crutches or anything else they need without any extra cost. Infants travelling on a Philippines Airlines flight can bring a foldable stroller or car seat onto the flight, subject to space.
