Scoot

About Scoot

Scoot was founded in 2012 as a low-cost airline operating from Singapore. It now offers flights to more than 60 destinations in nearly 20 countries, mainly but not exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region. The carrier is owned by Singapore Airlines and began by offering services to India and China before starting to expand its operations. Scoot flights originally used Boeing 777 aircraft obtained from the airline‘s parent company, but these have now been phased out in favour of Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes. As well as Singapore Airlines, Scoot has a codeshare agreement with SilkAir. Since 2016, it has been a Value Alliance member, the largest low-cost alliance in the world.

Scoot has grown rapidly since its launch, and in 2017 the airline merged with fellow Singaporean carrier Scoot, whose Airbus fleet was transferred to Scoot. The merged airline, which now operates entirely with Scoot branding, has more than 40 planes in service. Scoot is based at the international Singapore Changi Airport, where along with its parent company and JetStar Asia it is one of the most significant carriers. It takes part in Singapore Airlines‘ KrisFlyer frequent-flier programme, which offers access to select airport lounges worldwide.

How do I check in online with Scoot?

Web Check-in is available for all flights departing from Singapore. The Scoot online check-in is available from 72 hours before your flight leaves, while the facility closes one hour before departure. Both individuals and members of a group may use this feature, which is only offered if you are making a point-to-point journey with no flight connections. To print a boarding pass, you will need your booking reference and last name.

Online check-in is not available for passengers travelling with infants, who require special assistance, or who have chosen the MaxYourSpace option to purchase multiple seats. In all cases, passengers should take care to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure to allow time for all the necessary check-in procedures to be completed.

What is my checked baggage allowance on Scoot?

The amount of baggage permitted depends on which class of ticket you hold. With a ScootBiz ticket, the maximum total allowance is 30 kg, while with an Economy ticket it is 20 kg. In both cases, the combined total of length, weight and depth should not exceed 158 cm. This includes any protruding parts such as handles or wheels. With the Fly fare, there is no checked allowance – Scoot baggage policy with this fare is that only hand luggage is allowed.

It is possible to purchase additional checked baggage allowance regardless of your ticket class. The maximum you can purchase is 40 kg, but each individual bag cannot weigh more than 32 kg. Check this carefully, as oversize bags will have to be repacked to meet health and safety rules. In all cases, check your baggage is within your chosen allowance, otherwise you will be charged a fee for every kg over the limit.

Electronic devices using lithium batteries must have a battery capacity of no more than 160Wh. A maximum of 20 batteries rated at under 100Wh or two of between 100Wh and 160Wh can be carried; these must be removed and taken as hand luggage. Aerosols and other sprays are prohibited.

Non-standard items such as bikes and surfboards may be carried, but these are counted as part of your baggage allowance. Charges will apply if you exceed the total.

What hand luggage can I take on Scoot?

When flying with Scoot hand luggage allowance varies by ticket class. Adults travelling on an Economy ticket may bring a maximum of two cabin bags; the combined weight of these must not exceed 10 kg. If you are travelling on a ScootBiz ticket, the total weight limit is increased to 15 kg. Personal items such as briefcases and laptops are included when calculating the hand baggage allowance.

Hand luggage maximum size: 54 cm x 38 cm x 23 cm (including handles and wheels). Maximum linear dimension: 115 cm.

On Boeing 787 flights only, passengers in Economy may choose to purchase the Extra Cabin Bag facility. This will allow an extra 7 kg of hand luggage allowance, taking the total permitted up to 17 kg. Selecting this option when booking online will let you skip waiting at baggage claims.

Large musical instruments cannot be included as part of the hand luggage allowance. You may either take them as checked baggage or purchase an extra seat for them. Including packaging, instruments must weigh no more than 32 kg and measure no more than 140 cm x 40 cm x 45 cm.

I was travelling with an elderly lady in a wheelchair and the staff were extremely helpful. The ground staff went the extra mile and pushed her to the 4th floor to let us stop and eat breakfast before boarding. He left us to eat and came back later to take us to board the plane.

Absolutely appalling service. During this current climate, this company sold.us a flight that meant we would need to self isolate in singapore for 14 days. We are now over £2000 out of pocket trying to get flights home through multiple airlines.
