About Tunisair
Tunisia's flag carrier Tunisair was founded in 1948 and began operations the following year. The airline was set up by Tunisia's government, which still owns the majority of the company. The airline's main hub is at Tunis-Carthage International Airport with its headquarters located in Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia. Tunisair's most commonly used plane is the Airbus A320 although it currently has a total fleet of more than 30 Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
Tunisair flies to more than 100 destinations in Africa, the Middle East, North America and Europe. Among those, it operates flights to a number of UK airports including London Heathrow, Manchester and London Gatwick, with top destinations such as Jeddah, Algiers and Dusseldorf popular year round. It applied to join the SkyTeam alliance in the late 1990s but was unsuccessful, however, the Tunisian airline is part of the Arab Air Carriers Organization. It operates codeshare flights with Middle East Airlines.
Online check-in
Online check-in is available to passengers with a Tunisair booking. It becomes available 24 hours ahead of a flight and closes again 3 hours ahead of departure. Passengers can check in either on a web browser or on a mobile. To be able to check in online, passengers on Tunisair flights will need to enter either their e-ticket number, reservation number or frequent flyer membership number. The company also has check-in counters at the airport in case passengers prefer to check in that way for any reason. Once checked in, passengers will be able to print or save their boarding pass.
Hand luggage allowance
The Tunisian airline allows its Economy class passengers to bring with them 1 item of hand luggage on most Tunisair flights. The maximum weight for this item is 8 kg, and business class passengers are allowed 2 items of hand luggage. The combined weight of both pieces must be 10 kg or less. All cabin baggage is subject to a maximum size of 115 cm when height, width and length are added together. Luggage's wheels, pockets and handles must fit within this size limit. Hand luggage that is to big or to heavy will be checked in instead and the passenger will be charged for this.
