About Wideroe

Wideroe is a Scandinavian regional air carrier with a history going all the way back to 1934. In 1989, the company took over Norsk Air thus increasing its number of routes. It is the Nordic area's biggest regional airline and has its headquarters in Bodo, Norway. The airline has operating bases at 4 different locations including Tromso Lagnes, Oslo Gardermoen, Oslo Torp, Bodo and Bergen Flesland. The company's fleet is made up of Bombardier Dash 8s with 14 in total currently operating.

Wideroe offers flights to 47 different destinations, most of which are within its home country of Norway, although a few are international routes. Its international flights are to Aberdeen and Newcastle in the UK, Copenhagen and Ronne in Denmark and Gothenburg in Sweden. Top domestic destinations include Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger. Wideroe Airlines has a codeshare arrangement with Eastern Airways, allowing it to sell services between Norway and the United Kingdom. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance.

Online check-in

Passengers can check in for their Wideroe flights up to 22 hours prior to the departure of their flight. At the same time as they are checking in online, passengers can also choose or change where they are seated on the flight. Passengers should make sure to do this at least 1 hour before their flight leaves. After this, online check-in closes. Once checked in successfully, passengers can print out their boarding card. Groups of up to 6 people can be checked in at the same time. Mobile check-in is also available for Wideroe flights and can be done either via a mobile browser or by using the airline's app. If they wish, passengers can check in at the airport by using a self-service kiosk or going to a check-in counter.

Hand luggage allowance

Wideroe baggage allowance entitles each passenger to 1 item of hand luggage. The maximum permitted weight for hand luggage items is 8 kg. In addition, it should have dimension of no greater than 55 x 40 x 20 cm and must be able to fit either in an overhead compartment or underneath the seat in front of the passenger. If a passenger's hand luggage item is either heavier than 8 kg or larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm it will be checked into the hold of the aircraft instead. Passengers may have to pay a fee in the case of this happening.

Checked baggage allowance

All ticket types on Wideroe flights are entitled to some checked baggage allowance although it does vary with fare class. Baggage allowance for a Youth or Economy fare is 1 item that must not weigh more than 23 kg. Passengers on a Flex, Senior or Full Flex ticket may bring 2 pieces of checked luggage, each weighing up to 23 kg. Infants under 2 years can bring 1 bag of up to 23 kg as well as a collapsible stroller. All items of checked baggage should have a combined length, width and height of no more than 158 cm. Passengers will face an excess baggage charge if they go beyond these limits.
