About Air Corsica
Air Corsica was established in 1989 and in the past, went by the names Compagnie Corse Mediterranee CCM Airlines. It is a regional airline based on the French island of Corsica with headquarters in Ajaccio, the island's principal city. It is partly owned and supported by Air France, which has helped it develop over the years and expand its flight capacity. The airline uses a fleet of 11 planes including 5 Airbus A320s and 6 ATR 72-500s to operate flights on its network.
The airline has hubs at Ajaccio Campo dell'Oro Airport, Figari Sud Corse Airport, Calvi Sainte Catherine Airport and at Bastia Poretta Airport. From these hubs, it operates services between Corsica and mainland France, landing at Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Toulon, Dole and Clermont-Ferrand, as well as at Liege in Belgium. Some of its flights are run as franchises by Air France and Alitalia
.
Online check-in
Online check-in is an option for Air Corsica flights as long as passengers have an electronic ticket. This option opens for passengers to check in starting from 30 hours ahead of a flight's scheduled departure and closes again just 30 minutes prior to a flights takeoff time. When they check in online, passengers will then be able to choose a seat for their flight and print out their boarding card. Airport check-in is also available, in which case passengers should check in at one of the airline's counters 1 hour before their flight is due to depart. Passengers will also need to go to the airport counters if they have luggage to check in.
Hand luggage allowance
Air Corsica baggage allowance dictates 1 item of hand luggage and 1 accessory per passenger. The maximum weight for hand luggage depends on the type of plane being used for the flight. Currently, it's 8 kg on ATR 72 aircraft and 12 kg on Airbus A320 aircraft. The maximum size for hand luggage is 55 x 35 x 25 cm. Acceptable accessories include cameras, laptops, handbags, briefcases and similar items. As some of the airline's planes have limited cabin space, passengers may be asked to check in their hand luggage. They will not be charged for this unless their hand luggage is checked due to being oversized or overweight. In that case a fee may be incurred.
Checked baggage allowance
On domestic French flights and on international flights, all passengers may take 1 piece of checked luggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg. Passengers who have a higher fare type can take 2 items, each weighing up to 23 kg. Infants under 2 years old have an allowance of 1 item weighing up to 10 kg and can also bring a stroller or car seat. The maximum size under Air Corsica baggage allowance is a combined length, width and height of no more than 158 cm, including any protrusions such as wheels, handles or pockets. A fee will be charged for any luggage exceeding a passenger's allowance, up to 32 kg. Bags heavier than 32 kg will not be carried by the airline.
