About Sun Express

Sun Express is a relatively young airline that was founded in 1989 with headquarters located in Antalya, Turkey. It is a subsidiary of both Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa Group, who are both parent companies of Sun Express airlines. The company has 2 main hubs in Turkey; Antalya Airport and Adnan Menderes Airport. The fleet consists of over 65 aircraft, flying to over 100 destinations in Europe and North Africa, plus cities throughout Asia.

Passengers can book flights to many major European destinations including London, Amsterdam and Stockholm. Flights to Turkish destinations are available and include the cities of Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya. Flights can also be booked to numerous German destinations such as Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich. The airline has a German subsidiary called SunExpress Deutschland.

Online check-in

Online check-in for all aircraft in the Sun Express fleet is available between 3 and 24 hours before departure for international flights leaving from Turkey. Passengers can also check in online up to 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights within Turkey. For flights leaving from any other airport, passengers can check in up to 6 to 24 hours before departure.

When checking in online, passengers will be given a seat number, but only if they have not already received one. The use of a mobile boarding card is possible for all international flights leaving from Europe as well as from Izmir (ADB) and Istanbul (SAW). It is also possible for most domestic flights within Turkey.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers flying with Sun Express are allowed to take 1 piece of luggage that weights a maximum of 6 kg. The size of the luggage should not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Any luggage that exceeds the weight or size limitations will have to be stored in the hold of the aircraft which may incur a fee.

It is permitted to take liquids on board as part of a passenger's hand baggage as long as the contents are not more than 100 ml each. Liquids must be packaged in a plastic bag which is limited to a total of 1 litre per person.

Checked baggage allowance

For international Sun Express flights all passengers are allowed baggage weighing 20 kg to 40 kg depending on which ticket the passenger has selected. The 3 categories of tariff available are SunEco, SunClassic and SunPremium.

Infants under 2 years old are allowed a baggage allowance of up to 20 kg. Prams and pushchairs as well as car seats for children will be stowed in the hold and will not incur any additional charges. Sports equipment will incur a charge depending on the weight of the item. All baggage should be clearly labelled with the passenger's name as well as their home and holiday address.
