About Montenegro Airlines
Montenegro Airlines was founded in 1994 and is Montenegro's national flag carrier airline. At the time of its founding, Montenegro was part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which broke up in 2006. Like many flag carriers, it is a state-owned company. It took 3 years after founding, until 1997, for the airline to run its first commercial flight that flew to Bari in Italy. Its headquarters and main flight hub are both found at Podgorica Airport. Tivat Airport is home to a smaller Montenegro Airlines base. The company has 6 planes consisting of 3 Embraer 195s, 2 Fokker 100s and 1 Embraer 190.
The airline serves nearly 20 destinations across Europe. Some of its top destinations are flights to Dusseldorf, London Gatwick and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Austrian Airlines, Alitalia, Air France, Siberia Airlines and Adria Airways have all set up codeshare agreements with Montenegro Airlines. The airline is not affiliate to an airline alliance.
Online check-in
Online check-in is not available for Montenegro Airlines flights, and instead, passengers must check in for their flight at the airport on the day of departure. The airline recommends that passengers check in 2 hours before the flight's departure to make sure that they have enough time to pass through all necessary security checks and reach their boarding gate. Check-in will close half an hour before a flight's scheduled take-off. If they have connecting flights, passengers can check in right through to their final stop. The only time when this is not possible is if a passenger has a gap of more than 24 hours between flights.
Hand luggage allowance
Passengers on Montenegro Airlines flights can take 1 hand luggage item that should not weigh more than 10 kg and not be larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm. This includes any handles, wheels or pockets which stick out. Montenegro Airlines provides frames at the airport to check the size of a passenger's hand luggage. In addition to their hand luggage, passengers may also carry one of several personal items, such as cameras, strollers, walking sticks, umbrellas or crutches. Passengers traveling with a baby are allowed to put soft food and milk in their hand luggage for the infant.
Checked baggage allowance
All passengers on a Montenegro Airlines flight are entitled to a free checked luggage allowance. Economy class ticket holders may bring 1 piece weighing no more than 23 kg, while YM Frequent Flyer Silver and Gold members can bring 1 item weighing up to 32 kg. Business class passengers may bring 2 items of checked luggage, each weighing up to 32 kg. Infants have a checked baggage allowance of 1 item weighing up to 10 kg. All of these items of luggage must have a combined width, height and length not exceeding 158 cm. The only exception to this is YM Frequent Flyer Silver and Gold members who are traveling in Business class. These passengers may bring 2 checked bags, each of which may weigh 34 kg and whose dimension may be up to 208 cm. Any excess baggage will be subject to an extra charge.
