Summer reading: the best books to read on holiday this summer 2017
Whether you are waiting for your flight, relaxing by the pool or lying on the beach... What better way to devour a new novel than doing so during your summer holidays? For the fifth consecutive year, Opodo has conducted a survey of European travellers to learn more about their summer reading habits whilst on holiday.
What do you prefer to read while on holiday? What is your favourite format? What are the best books to read this summer? This year, nearly 4,000 people answered our survey in the United Kingdom, France and Germany to help us answer these burning questions, and more. Read on to find out the results!

We remain true to paper! For now...
So, what else did we learn from our survey? It`s clear that European readers still prefer a good old paper book. Over 60% of respondents said that the classic book is their favorite format, roughly the same number as last year. However, a difference in purchasing behavior was observed with around 39% of participants now choosing to buy their books online. This figure was around 22% last year. In addition, the purchase of eBooks has increased from 18% last year to an impressive 26% this year. Thus, paper books continue to be the preferred format amongst European readers, but a clear trend is emerging... To learn more about last years results, have a look here!
