Still have no idea where you’ll be on New Year’s Eve and what you’ll be doing? Not to worry, there are still plenty of options to choose from and enough time to concoct an excellent plan. After all, there’s nothing wrong with being spontaneous!
We bring you our selection of last-minute New Year’s Eve destinations:
New Year’s Eve at Times Square – New York City
New Year’s Eve in New York is definitely an event worth experiencing in person. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people gather in Times Square and wait for the Ball to descend as they welcome the new year.
And if you book your flights to New York a day in advance, you even have time to send in your wishes for the coming year… who knows, you might just spot it on one of the confetti released at midnight!
New Year’s Day at the spa – Slovenia
If partying is not really your thing, why not spend a relaxing day at the spa? That way, you can start 2019 full of energy and positivity! In Slovenia there are many towns renowned for their centres of wellness and well-being. In general, the resorts are reasonably priced and if you pick a spa close to the mountains, you could even spend a few hours skiing!
Fun and Fireworks the italian way – Rome
New Year’s Eve festivities in Rome escalate to a whole new level this year, with fireworks, music, dance and artistic performances springing up in countless locations across town. The best places to be when the clock strikes midnight have got to be Piazza del Popolo and the Coliseum. And because there’s no reasons why the celebrations should stop before the break of dawn, head over to Via dei Fori Imperiali and enjoy a free New Year’s Eve concert, followed by a good old fashioned pub crawl!
Go on a New Year’s cruise – Canary Islands
Cruises are no longer just for the elderly; in the recent years, and probably as a result of the crisis, more and more travellers prefer to move around this way. For New Year’s Eve there is a myriad of inexpensive options, especially if you wish to go to an island in the Mediterranean.
We recommend an expedition to the Canary Islands, where the climate is presently mild all year round. The most popular rotes cover Las Palmas, San Sebastian de la Gomera, Funchal, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Celebrate “Oudjaarsavond” – Amsterdam
If you haven’t made up your mind about where to spend the 31st of December, how about celebrating “Oudjaarsavond” (Old Year’s Eve) together with the Dutch?
You will not regret booking flights to Amsterdam in time to experience the New Year’s Eve extravaganzas organised in some of the city’s most splendid and popular spots. The most favoured locations include Rembrandtplein, Dam Square and Nieuwmarkt.
Wherever you decide to spend New Year’s Eve, we hope you enjoy yourselves!
