Are you flying with Ryanair soon? We recommend that you read their luggage policies to avoid any surprises at the airport. As a low cost airline, Ryanair has specific rules that should be followed to avoid having to pay additional fees and surchages. From 1st November 2018 they change their luggage policies.
Ryanair’s Cabin Baggage
From 1st November priority customers can bring two free carry-on bags with the seizes 40 x 20 x 25 cm and maximum weight of 10kg plus a small bag with the seize 55 x 20 x 40 to be put under the front seat. Passengers who did not decide for priority boarding are only allowed to bring the small bag and no 10kg wheelie bag anymore. They then must purchase a check-in bag for £8 when booking. Aftzer the initial flight booking you can purchase the wheelie bag onlne, but it will cost £10 then. If you have not added a bag to your booking, you can still purchase a 10kg wheelie bag at the airport bag drop desk. Keep in mind that you then have to pay £20 to £25 at the boarding gate. Important: The wheelie bag must be deposited to entering security.
If you’re travelling with an infant of up to 23 months old, you can also bring a baby bag of up to 5kg.
IMPORTANT: If your luggage doesn’t meet the following dimensions, you will have to pay additional fees before boarding.
Ryanair also informs passengers that in case the plane has a high number of passengers and limited cabin space, they reserve the right to check-in your hand luggage for free.
Ryanair’s Checked Baggage Allowance
Checked baggage isn’t automatically included in the price of regular Ryanair bookings. If you need to check-in luggage, you can book up to two bags of 15-20kg and pay the associated fees.
➡ Please note that you may share your baggage with the passengers listed in your booking reservations. Just make sure you don’t exceed the permitted baggage allowance or you’ll have to pay extra per additional kilograms.
If you’re travelling with an infant or child, you are entitled to carry a folding stroller or one of the following objects: car seat, child seat or a portable crib.
Items that are prohibited onboard a Ryanair flight
Remember that it is prohibited to carry any of the following articles:
- Guns or firearms
- Pointed weapons or sharp objects
- Flammable and explosive substances
- Blunt instruments
- Toxic and chemical substances
- Fish, game or hunting trophies
Ryanair reserves the right to refuse to carry baggage that include these prohibited items.
